Our legacy

Over 100 years of carrying power.

Sacci was founded in Torsång, Sweden, in 1914 when Wiktor Haglöf began manufacturing and selling backpacks for everyday use to forestry workers in the Dalarna province of Sweden.

The company grew and in the 1930s started a cooperation with the Swedish Armed Forces. In 1956, the sons Rolf and Hans took over, and in the 1960s and 1970s, production was increasingly focused on leisure products. During the period 1974–1987, the company was part of the Bonnier Group’s leisure division Frosta Gruppen, and was one of the country’s leading manufacturers of carrying equipment for recreational purposes. Today, Haglöfs Scandinavia owns the right to the Haglöf name.

In 1987, Hans Haglöf purchased back the production unit in Borlänge with the aim of providing military, medical care professionals, and industry with backpacks, bags and other carrying equipment. In 1990, the company was reconstructed, and in 1992 the current name Sacci Ryggsäckar AB was adopted. Today, Hans Haglöf’s children and grandchildren own the company.

Sacci has always had the ambition to produce high-quality goods. Regular backpacks may only be used for a few weeks a year, while products for professional and military users are meant to be used daily for several years. We know how wear affects carrying equipment and where it can rip if the wearer is being careless. We therefore carefully choose materials and add reinforcements in critical places.

A Jubilee backpack was developed in 2014 to celebrate 100 years of Haglöfs. It was made of Swedish material only, and released in a numbered limited edition.
